Headroom, clarity, balanced response, power...
These terms have become synonymous with a vintage American design that is known and sought the world over.  WGS now pays tribute to this classic with our WGS12L. However like all of our designs, we didn't set out to make a clone.  With this model we paid extra special attention to the details, producing a speaker that delivers that same even response without sounding sterile and lifeless.  Boasting a cast frame, 2.5" voice coil and a 200 watt rating, and clocking in at 18 pounds, this beast is loaded for bear.  As a welcome addition to the WGS fleet, this speaker is definitely our battleship.

The G12M Greenback is perhaps the definitive vintage Celestion ceramic magnet guitar speaker. Developed in the mid-sixties, it was quickly adopted by players like Hendrix, Clapton, Beck and Page, who typified the louder and more aggressive blues rock playing styles that came to characterize that era.The G12M-65 Creamback produces the familiar woody G12M tone, but handles greater power making it ideally suited for today's amps, when a vintage tone is desired. Back in 1986 a new breed of hard rock player was on the rise. To meet the demands of the players and their increasingly 'hot-rodded' amplifiers, we set out to develop a modern speaker, capable of handling much more power and overdrive. To achieve this, we coupled our 'H' magnet (the closest in performance to Alnico) with a new cone and voice coil employing contemporary materials.

Tube-Town's Review

The Celestion V-Type sounds like a Vintage 30 with a touch of Greenback. Does anybody really need this? We think so, because the V-type has some clear advantages over the Vintage 30.
The biggest complaint about the Vintage 30 it the strong mid peak, which is nearly linear at 100dB between 450 - 1300 Hz. The V-Type also has a mid peak, but it starts later, around 600 Hz, and drops off sharply after 1kHz, which gives it a significantly smoother, less cluttered sound.
The V-Type also weighs quite a bit less than the Vintage 30. Your back will be grateful, and combo owners will be particularly happy.
The weight reduction follows from the use of a smaller magnet. The smaller magnet has the additional advantage that it can now be used in combos in which the magnet of a Vintage 30 would come in contact with the tubes or transformers. The V-Type also handles 10 watts more, which allows greater headroom, and is particularly useful with 50-watt amps.
Finally, the V-Type is considerably less expensive than the Vintage 30, for which your wallet will thank you.
All in all, we have to ask if the Vintage 30 is even necessary any more, as the V-Type is, to our taste, a better speaker and highly recommended as a direct replacement.

The M10C has a slightly smoother sound that retains headroom. Similar to the 10LC but with less output but a more balanced sound with more presence and sparkle on the top end.  
Initially intended for studio or home use, musicians claim it to be the closest to the original C10N from 4 and 5 decades ago.

The 10" that thinks it's a 12". This speaker was developed to recapture the legendary sound of Celestion's 1970s 10s - a 10" speaker with a surprisingly meaty tone.Low in output but with the weighty low-end balance of a 12", the G10 Greenback features a complex, creamy mid-range and smooth, vintage top-end.In small combos this speaker adds real class, and when combined in a 4x10 gives rise to a raunchy, full-bodied tone, rich in low-end thump.

Tested by Tube-Town: The Celestion 10" Greenback may not have the sonic range of its big brother - which is of course physically impossible - but it still delivers a full sound that is a bit more restrained in the highs than the 12" Greenback, making it sound rounder and softer in the highs, even with more overdrive in the sound.
All in all, the Celestion 10" Greenback is a true rock and blues speaker that we would use in open cabinets or combos to get the most out of the speaker. Do not use closed cabinets that are too small, as the speaker needs to breathe, otherwise the "British touch" that the speaker has will be lost. The 30 watt power rating also gives the speaker a bit more headroom than the 12" Greenback, making it a bit more flexible to use than the original.
