JJ ECC803 Selected GOLD
Sonically similar to the "normal" JJ 12AX7, but the overall sound is "fuller" and "stronger" with a more powerful bass. Visually, compared to the normal JJ 12AX7, the long anode plates stand out, as well as a slightly higher current. Suits well in guitar and bass amps, but also in audio and high-end areas.
All JJ gold preamp tubes are selected within a close tolerance and handtested for best sound and quality. Furthermore all pins are gold plated to achieve best electrical contact.
What about the sound? It is still the famous and well known JJ brownsound - warm and smooth.
Note: Tubes equipped with long plates are commonly associated with a "warmer" or "richer" sound, whereas those with shorter plates tend to deliver a "tighter sound". However, tubes featuring long plates exhibit increased sensitivity to vibrations and mechanical disturbances, rendering them less ideal for critical applications.

- YANNICK C., 12/25/2020My favorite tube in P.I. section. Absolulty great!
- Andrea M., 05/04/2016JJ ecc803 has been a great surprise! Almost identical to my Brimar ecc83 (the original pre tubes in my dad's 50w bass plexi from 1969) with only a touch more low mid. Very relaxed in presentation and very 3D the most 3D tube in current production. It's the first time that i find a tube that is sooo similar to a brimar..brimar is the less famous sister of Mullard..but while the Mully has an over abundance of mids and the treble are quite veiled, the brimar is more relaxed, a little bit lower in gain and with extended treble response. If you are lookin for a more aggressive tube..well chinese (a lot of gain) or tungsol (lot of gain plus upper mids and treble spike) are for you, but for that soft, open vintage sound, in modern production nothing can beat the JJ ecc803. For me is 95% Brimar with a hint more low mids. P.s. another now nos ecc83 tubes that sound 100% like old philips tube is the Ei.. touch more low mid.
